About Richmond Hill
Richmond Hill is a bustling town locating in the southern part of York Region that sits just to the north of Metropolitan Toronto. With over 185,000 people Richmond Hill is the third most populous town in York Region and the 28th most populous in Canada. Richmond Hill enjoys a continental climate which is heavily influenced by warm, moist air masses that originate in the south and cold, dry air from the north. Summers tend to be hot and humid and winters cold with significant snowfall. Daytime average highs reach 26°C and winter months tend to bring very cold temperatures with the daytime high averaging -1°.
This town was dubbed as Canada’s fastest growing community in the 1990’s. Along with this came many businesses and an increase of activities. Richmond Hill has over 160 parks and 544 hectares of undeveloped land that’s used for recreation including some great hiking. For the avid golfer there are three quality courses to choose from. There are five public swimming pools including a large indoor wave pool. Richmond Hill offers quality art and music entertainment at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts and there is live theatre thanks to the Curtain Club on Newkirk Drive. There is no shortage of fine dining establishments, great eateries or casual dining. For those who enjoy the nightlife there are nightclubs, sports bars and many pubs to experience. If shopping is your thing then you’ll like exploring all the small shops, shopping plazas, and Hillcrest Mall.
