Burlington is located at the far northwest corner of Lake Ontario in Halton Region. It is a part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and has the scenic Niagara Escarpment to the west of the city. Burlington is strategically situated near the geographic centre of what is called the Golden Horseshoe. This area is highly industrialized, densely populated and home to over 8 million people of which almost 200,000 reside in Burlington. The climate is considered humid continental with warm, humid summers and cold winters. Summer average high temperature is about 26°C and in the winter daytime highs average -3°C.
Although there is a lot of industry in this area Burlington is well-recognized as a four-season city with its beautiful parks, scenic lakeshore, the Royal Botanical Gardens and its proximity to the Niagara Escarpment. It is also worth noting that Burlington is one of the safest cities in Canada. Burlington has a wealth of entertainment, theatre, a great nightlife, and some of the most incredible culinary delights await you at one of the many local cafés, chic eateries and fine dining restaurants. There is a variety of festivals year round, art exhibitions, and for those interested in local heritage there are several buildings and the Joseph Brant Museum to discover. Burlington boasts a wide range of recreation activities and is considered to be a golfers’ paradise; winter golf is available at some locations.
