Bedford, Nova Scotia is strategically located next to Halifax and Dartmouth and sits on the northern shores of the Bedford Basin. It is a very picturesque town that is technically part of the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). The 2011 census had Bedford’s population at 18,553. Bedford has a humid continental climate with (generally) severe stormy winters and warm summers. During the summer average high temperatures are 21°C and in the winter daytime highs average 1°C. Bedford has about 1890 hours of sunshine per year. Chatelaine magazine once rated Bedford ad one of the top ten places to live in Canada.
You’ll find that overall Bedford is a quiet community. There are two parks located on the basin that provide a stunning view should going for a relaxing stroll interest you. Bedford’s restaurants offer a variety of exquisite foods to choose from and there are several pubs as well. If you want to experience local shopping there are two mid-size malls, several plazas, and box stores to select from that will have all your needs. There are two beaches if you want to take a walk in the water and in the winter skating is available. Bedford has a yacht club that offers sailing lessons if your stay in town allows you the time. Being situated very close to Dartmouth and Halifax allows you to visit historical sites, explore more shopping areas, more recreation opportunities, discover other restaurants and enjoy some nightlife as well.
