Kanata is a vibrant suburban community which is amalgamated within the city of Ottawa. Before Kanata became a part of Ottawa (2001), it was considered one of Canada’s fastest growing cities. As of 2011 Kanata’s population was 80,781 and this area continues to grow. It is situated to the southwest of Ottawa and the Ottawa River is just to the north. The climate is semi-continental with warm, humid summers and very cold winters but regardless of season this area sees a lot of sunny days.
