There is just over a month until Christmas. The holiday parties are in full swing, the work pace begins to slow (for the lucky ones), and spirit of giving and kindness to others is at its annual peak.
Canadians are generous people, and around this special time of year, many of us look for ways to share the spirit of the holidays with those less fortunate than ourselves. One of our favourite traditions is making a donation to one of the city's annual holiday toy drives, it gives us all the “feels”. They in turn distribute toys to families in need all across Ottawa; and everybody wins.
The Ottawa region has several big toy drives run by reputable organizations that help to ensure that every child has the opportunity to receive a gift during the holiday season. If you don’t have a smaller community organization that you can give to, we recommend donating to one of these. When purchasing gifts for kids, keep in mind that each year what they need most are gifts for infants ages 0-2, and kids ages 11-18.
