Five date ideas to enhance your Valentine’s Day weekend

The weekend of love and romance is coming up and you want to make it as memorable as possible. Ottawa has no shortage of events and activities to help you make that happen. Whether you’re on a budget or on a spending spree, here are five date suggestions for you to ponder.

Ottawa Farmers’ Winter Market – Stroll through the historical Aberdeen Pavilion and enjoy some food, arts and crafts from over 100 local vendors. Snack now or shop for that romantic dinner later. Plus, it’s Winterlude, so bring your skates and enjoy everything that’s going on.

Snowshoeing Under the Stars – What’s more romantic than a stroll under the stars on a crisp winter’s evening? You don’t need any experience to have an amazing night out. Bring your sweetheart to Pinhey’s Point Historic Site and experience it together.

Winter Brewfest – Sample beers from across Ontario and Quebec and enjoy irresistible food prepared by renowned chefs. Spend a little or spend a lot. Yoga and beer, anyone?

Paint Night - Have a glass of wine as artists guide you, step by step, on transforming your blank canvas into a masterpiece. Ok, maybe not a masterpiece but a really good painting that you'll be proud to hang above your mantelpiece.

The Heat Is On – Return to the historical Aberdeen Pavilion for a big dance party featuring two DJs, food and beverages and a ticket price that can’t be beat. Plus, your ticket is good for a ride home on OC Transpo. This is for adults 19 and older.

The 14th falls on a Tuesday this year. Will you be celebrating on the actual date or one of the weekends before or after? Keep in mind the weekend after Valentine’s day is a long weekend with Family Day falling on the Monday.
