Mississauga's Lakefront Promenade Park

Mississauga's Lakefront Promenade Park

Mississauga's Lakefront Promenade Park is one of the largest waterfront developments in Ontario. Located just off of Lakeshore Road East, east of Cawthra Road, it is a 40-hectare public parkland dedicated to outdoor recreation and the protection of wildlife habitat.

It is a great place to come if you love walking, cycling, or inline skating. The Mississauga Waterfront Trail runs through the park, as part of a continuous 21.5 kilometre stretch of trail from Etobicoke Creek (Marie Curtis Park) to the Oakville border (Joshua Creek). You can park your car in one of two parking areas that hold up to 135 vehicles, and set off on the trails for hours of fresh air and fun.

The park has a very popular children’s play area with a playground and an environmentally friendly splash pad activated by motion sensors for maximum water conservation and a porous asphalt surface that drains water from the park and filters it before feeding into nearby wetlands and eventually the lake.

Nearby picnic areas make it the perfect spot to bring the whole family, so kids can run, splash and play while mom and dad barbecue, or sit and relax under one of two picnic shelters that seat 70 and 60. Concession shelters provide snacks and refreshments for less formal outings.

The Park is also home to the Lakefront Promenade Marina, which provides seasonal berths for approximately 170 boats. The complex also has facilities for visiting boaters, a social room, a marina information office, Region of Peel Police Force, Marine Unit offices, and a licensed outdoor patio and grill that is open in spring and summer.

The Mississauga Sailing Club and Port Credit Yacht Club are also located in the Park. Whether you are a novice looking for an inexpensive way to get out on the water or a seasoned veteran with expensive toys, you can find a place in one of these clubs.

Lakefront Promenade Park is a project by the City of Mississauga and the Credit Valley Conservation Authority.
