Three Easy Ways to Keep the Kids Busy Family Day Long Weekend 2015 in Emdonton
The thought of an extra day with the kids home from school might cause panic for some parents. Figuring out how to keep them occupied, out of trouble and happy can be a daunting task. Thankfully, this long weekend is all about them. With a host of events geared around keeping the little ones active and entertained, all you have to do is get them there.
This year, we celebrate 25 years of Family Day in Alberta. We have put together a list of three easy ways to keep the kids busy this Family Day weekend; not only is each one chock full of cool activities but they are all free. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
The longest running winter festival in Edmonton is turning 25 this year. Enjoy art, culture, recreation, sport and the beauty of winter with the whole family. Activities include sleigh rides, face painting, ice sculpting, winter triathlon, marathon skate races, fire sculpture, dance and musical performances, dog sledding, blacksmith demonstrations, Aboriginal culture and traditions showcases and a lantern procession.

A celebration of winter that includes a family skate, shinny hockey, tobogganing, curling, ice fishing, cabane a sucre, crafts, face painting, a family dance, and snowman building competitions.

Head to the Alberta Legislature to enjoy an after of entertainment and activities for the whole family. Indoor activities include a scavenger hunt, music and magic shows, a Legozone, an illusionist and Family Day photowall. Outdoor activities include a cabane a sucre (sugar shack), horse-drawn wagon rides, skating, and roving entertainment.
