Whether it’s as a result of a planned surgery and recovery or a sudden emergency, extended medical stays can be challenging: Suddenly your family needs to be near the healthcare facility, which may be far from your home. And you may need to stay near the hospital for days or weeks after your treatment, so you can attend follow-up appointments and be in reach of medical professionals.
Corporate housing can make your life easier
When a loved one is in the hospital, you want to be there for them – but driving back and forth every day for weeks on end can be debilitating for everyone involved, especially when the hospital is in a big city with all the associated traffic.
Booking a fully-furnished corporate housing apartment nearby means less travel time, more comfort, and less disruption in everyone’s life. Here’s how.
Easy access to the hospital or healthcare facility
Premiere Suites has furnished suites and homes near healthcare facilities across Canada, many of them within walking distance. Instead of having to spend hours traveling back and forth (and spending huge amounts of money in hospital parking lots!), loved ones can simply walk over. This allows for easier, more frequent and relaxed visits with the patient.
So much more spacious than a hotel room
Hotel rooms, especially those near healthcare facilities, can be cramped and poorly-equipped, making them less than comfortable for extended stays. Corporate housing suites, homes and townhomes are larger, with furnished living areas, kitchens, and, in many cases, parking. It’s easier to spread out and relax – which is important when you’re spending so much time looking after a loved one in the hospital.
Relatives (and pets) are welcome!
With options ranging from studios to 5+ bedrooms, you can choose the corporate housing solution that’s right for you, whether that’s an extra bedroom or two or additional parking spaces. What’s more, most of our properties are pet-friendly, so no one has to keep traveling back and forth to ‘look after the dog’.
More economical than hotel rooms
Unlike hotel rooms, corporate housing properties in Canada are typically leased by the week or month, making them generally more economical for long-term stays. What’s more, with kitchens and laundry facilities in all suites, you don’t have to spend extra money on room service and eating out or things like laundromats.
Fully-equipped kitchens
We talk about our fully-equipped kitchens all the time, but the truth is they’re a huge reason why our corporate housing suites are such a good solution for extended medical stays: The caregiver can eat healthily and at their own convenience throughout their stay – and they can make special favourites for the patient in the hospital as well. “When she was stuck in the hospital for 6 weeks, all my daughter wanted to eat was homemade oatmeal,” one parent told us. “So I made my special oatmeal every morning and took it to her in a Thermos so it was still warm – with her doctor’s permission, of course. I still think that helped her get better, faster.”
Dedicated work space – with fast wifi
We know your life doesn’t stop just because a loved one is in the hospital. That’s why almost all of our furnished suites and homes have dedicated workspaces. You can continue to get your work done remotely while still being easily accessible to the hospital.
A fantastic post-discharge resource
Guests tell us that the fully-equipped kitchens aren’t just helpful during their stays when their loved one is in the hospital. “After my husband was discharged, we still had to come to the hospital every other day for two weeks,” said one guest who stayed in a suite near Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto for two months. “Staying in a Premiere Suite just around the corner from the hospital made those visits so much easier – and gave me a lot of peace of mind, knowing that we were nearby in case of an emergency in those weeks.”
