A clear respect for tradition is reflected in Union's brick, wood and concrete, while open-concept living spaces and efficient design show a view to the future. Inclusion of the Finlayson Building facade and the re-creation of Theatre Alley ensure a subtle blend with the neighbourhood, while elevated patios and green courtyards give Union a sense of privacy and community. If half stars were available - I’d have added one. 5 would be perfect with absolutely nothing to complain about. The pre check in/admin communications were excellent. Anytime I needed information - someone always attended to be politely and promptly. Web site very informative. However some additions/changes/considerations to the room would have made the stay perfect. The attraction of the room with a kitchen is that meals can be prepared over a long stay, however the knives were blunt, (seriously difficult to use - I had to purchase a utility knife) and there was disproportioned amount of plates and cutlery to glassware and coffee mugs, which meant more clean up when these utensils were required. Also, on arrival, the sheets and towels had faint deodorizing scents - so either Tide pods or Bounce dryer sheets were used. This necessitated in linens having to be redone on arrival. Subsequent linen delivery from a service did not have any scented products used (which lead me to believe linens are laundered in the unit during changeover cleaning) but these delivered linens did have stains (washed but stains remained) and small holes and tears in them. They appeared pressed but shabby. I again laundered the linens at the time of cleaning service. The remote control ran out of battery, and I purchased one of those. Perhaps a replacement battery can be stored somewhere. Also - a flashlight for an emergency situation would be a handy item to have on hand. Maybe also a small side table for the patio. The sofa, although funky, and cute for entertaining is not overly comfortable for a long stay. Overall the stay was wonderful - the apartment comfortable and the location fantastic. I would definitely stay again.
