No trip to Victoria would be complete without a visit to the Royal BC Museum. Located in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, the RBCM features natural & human history as well as the province’s archives. Founded in 1886, the museum is home to many authentic artifacts year-round and also hosts a number of exciting temporary exhibits as well. Visit Old Town and hear the train rumble by, take a look inside a traditional First Nations longhouse or stop by to say hello to our ever popular woolly mammoth.
Take in a movie at theCineplex Odeon Theatre, located one short block from your suite at The 834. Operating for nearly 70 years, Victoria’s oldest movie theatre is getting updated with fully reclining luxury seating for the ultimate viewing experience.
We have good news for sports fans! Hockey season in Victoria runs from September through March, with the Victoria Royals showcasing their talent at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Victoria is also home to the Harbour Cats baseball team. Take in a game, enjoy the concession, and cheer on our home team at the 10,500 seat Royal Athletic Park, an easy six minute walk from your residence.

Open for breakfast and lunch, Shine Café is famous for their gourmet versions of brunch classics. Fol Epi. Not just your average bakery, Fol Epi uses organic grains milled on-site and baked in a wood-fired brick oven. Need we say more!
Habit Coffee. You don’t have to go far to start your day out with the smoothest coffee and espresso drinks in Victoria. Housed in the Atrium building just one block up street from your suite, it is the ideal place to sit, converse, and people-watch from floor-to-ceiling windows with a wrap-around view.
A taste of Canadian History is ½ a block from your suite. Since 1964, when coffee and donuts were 10 cents apiece,Tim Horton’s has been there for those needing a quick cup of joe or a sweet treat.
Pubs / Bars
Satisfy your burger craving at Bin 4 Burger Lounge, where local flavours pair with premium ingredients. If burgers can be gourmet, Bin 4 has achieved this by making their sauces in-house from scratch, and serving only ethically raised, hormone free meats. The joint gets busy after 9pm when all burgers are ½ price with the purchase of a drink.
The Sticky Wicket is a cricket themed pub serving seasonal West Coast fare. Situated in the Strathcona Hotel, the multi-level venue is also host to a cocktail & dining lounge, games room, and rooftop patio complete with full sized, sand volleyball courts. Also on location is the Strathcona Liquor Store and Distrikt Nightclub. There’s something to suite everyone’s taste at The Wicket. Veneto Tapa Lounge is a sophisticated urban lounge focusing on delectable small plates and an endless cocktail list. Choose from one of their signature libations, or for the more adventurous, play “Spin the Wheel,” where your drink destiny is in the hands of Veneto’s professional bartenders.
Take a short stroll across the block to Zambri’s. Open for lunch, brunch, and dinner, Zambri’s serve up heavenly Italian cuisine in a lovely setting. Café Brio is an Italian villa-style restaurant featuring Mediterranean influenced cuisine. Reservations are recommended for this intimate and bustling dining room.
The Market on Yates is a quality supermarket in an ultra-convenient location. They have a great reputation for stocking hard to find items and house a good variety of gluten-free products.
Open year round, the Victoria Public Market at the Hudson is well known for its locally produced cheeses, farm fresh groceries, handmade pies, local butcher fresh meats, and so much more. New to the Hudson is Bumble + Hive’s drop in play centre so you can shop and dine while your little ones play and thrive.
Welburns Food Market is a nice, small, local grocer in Victoria. The store has been in operation for over 100 years and has a quaint small-town feel to it.
Right across the street from The 834 is the Ageless Living Market, where you can grab a healthy meal from their deli, or stock up on healthy snacks, supplements, organic produce, and more.
Shopping / Retail
The Bay Centre is a four storey shopping mall covering an entire city block, with over 90 shops and services to explore and enjoy.
Downtown Victoria’s Lower Johnson Street, or “LoJo” as it is commonly referred to by locals, is Victoria’s trendy fashion district, featuring boutiques like Smoking Lily, Paradise Boutique, and Still Life, to name a few. Further down the LoJo’s strip is Market Square, chalk full of shops as unique as the heritage brick-and-beam building with an open air courtyard.
Government Street is often thought of as Victoria’s tourist shopping strip. If you are looking to bring a piece of West Coast BC with you, be sure to stop into Cowichan Trading where you will find hand crafted native arts, crafts, moccasins, jewelry, authentic Cowichan sweaters, and Pacific smoked salmon. Also along Government Street is Munro’s Books, one of the world’s best bookstores as cited by National Geographic. It is well worth visiting their vast book collection, housed in a striking neo-classical building that was originally built for the Royal Bank of Canada in 1909.
