Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia located on the southern tip of picturesque Vancouver Island. The city has a population of just over 80,000 and including the metropolitan area the population is almost 345,000. Victoria is located about 100 kilometres from Vancouver and from Seattle. Named after Queen Victoria, this city is one of the oldest in the Pacific Northwest. Victoria has a temperate climate with cool, dry and sunny summers and mild, rainy winters. The average summer daytime high temperature is 20°C and a balmy 8°C in the winter.
