About Toronto Midtown
Midtown Toronto is an affluent area located just north of downtown Toronto. Its borders are roughly defined as being Lawrence Avenue to the north, Bloor Street to the south, Bayview Avenue to the east and Oakwood/Ossington Avenue to the west. Midtown Toronto is often referred to as being the “Yonge/Eglinton” area of the city. There are no population statistics for this area although there are many households, condos and high rise apartments. Midtown Toronto enjoys warm, humid summer days with some hot days as well. Average daytime temperatures sit at about 25°C. Winters tend to bring heavy snowfalls on occasion and daytime highs averaging -1°C.
With an abundance of independent shops and unique boutiques this area of Toronto is a mecca for shopping. Many people enjoy a stroll along Yonge Street if only to window shop. If the weather is not conducive for strolling outdoors there is the RioCan Yonge Eglinton Centre. The Yonge and Eglinton area is the heartbeat of midtown Toronto boasting countless tea and coffee shops as well as fine dining and incredible eateries. In the warmer weather there are many outdoor patio cafes to enjoy. Nightlife in this part of the city includes some great pubs and sports bars. There are two movie theatres in this area so that you can enjoy the latest movie on the big screen. Midtown Toronto has some incredible older homes; many are updated with a 21stcentury flare. Taking a stroll in the Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhoods may inspire you to renovate your house when you return home. Midtown Toronto is right on Toronto’s subway line so you’re only minutes away from downtown Toronto if you want to partake in the nightlife and various activities there.
