Détails du Quartier
Highlighted by Trip Advisor as one of the top 10 activities in Victoria, Fisherman’s Wharf is a must see. A walk across the park outside your residence will bring you to a floating village bustling with activities and vendors. Wander the docks and meet the locals who live in floating homes, grab an ice cream or a plate of fish & chips, and be sure watch out for the resident harbour seals looking for a free handout. Fisherman’s Wharf is a vibrant hotspot during the sunny days of spring and summer and should not be missed!
The Ogden Point Breakwater is a scenic Victorian landmark. Used daily by locals and tourists alike, you can even catch some daredevils out there when storm season has waves breaking across the top. While out walking along the breakwater you will undoubtedly see marine life below and most likely a few divers and snorkelers as well. Afterwards, warm up with a drink or delicious snack from the Breakwater Café & Bistro!
The Victoria Harbour Ferry & Water Taxi offers great views of Victoria and the Inner Harbour from a whole new perspective. Active year-round, but especially in spring and summer, you can see our harbour bustling with little water taxis that travel to many points along our waterway. The hop-on/hop-off service has a stop right outside your door at Fisherman’s Wharf, and takes you on a scenic journey from through the Inner Harbour, past China Town, along the Selkirk Landing, and to Ogden Point, with many more stops in between! Be sure to keep an eye out for their famous water ballet, performed every Sunday morning in May to September.
Heron Rock Bistro is a hidden gem in the heart of James Bay. They serve quality food at reasonable prices in a relaxed environment. Local is the magic ingredient at Heron Rock, where island farmers, foragers, brewers, musicians, and artists are supported and featured. They are open from breakfast until late and heat things up with live music on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Aura Waterfront Restaurant & Patio offers a Pacific Rim inspired menu that is almost too pretty to eat. The seaside venue within the Laurel Point Hotel is a great place to relax while watching the harbour activity or taking in a spectacular sunset.
Il Covo Trattoria is a charming eatery steps from your suite at the Inner Harbour. Offering rustic Italian dishes in a warm, old world Tuscan ambience, Il Covo Trattoria is a great place to go for a wholesome meal with friends and family. Stepping into Il Covo Trattoria is like stepping back to a simpler time and place, where food is prepared from the heart and customers are treated like family.

Shopping / Retail
Downtown Victoria’s Lower Johnson Street, or “LoJo” as it is commonly referred to by locals, is Victoria’s trendy fashion strip, featuring boutiques like Smoking Lily, Paradise Boutique, and Still Life, to name a few. Further down the LoJo’s strip is Market Square, chalk full of shops as unique as the heritage brick-and-beam building with an open air courtyard.
Government Street is often thought of as Victoria’s tourist shopping strip. If you are looking to bring a piece of West Coast BC with you, be sure to stop into Cowichan Trading where you will find hand crafted native arts, crafts, moccasins, jewelry, authentic Cowichan sweaters, and Pacific smoked salmon. Also along Government Street is Munro’s Books, one of the world’s best bookstores as cited by National Geographic. It is well worth visiting their vast book collection, housed in a striking neo-classical building that was originally built for the Royal Bank of Canada in 1909.
The Bay Centre is a four story shopping mall covering an entire city block, with over 90 shops and services to explore and enjoy.
