Oceanic Market offers a good selection of organic produce, locally sourced products, and carefully selected imports and fairly traded goods from their convenient Vic West location.
The Market on Yates is a quality supermarket in downtown Victoria. They have a great reputation for stocking hard to find items and carry a good variety of gluten-free products.
Pubs / Bars
A great local brewpub resides less than 1 km from your residence at the Dockside Green. Spinnaker’s Gastro Brewpub is Victoria’s feature waterfront establishment featuring locally-sourced ingredients & traditionally crafted brews. A must try!
Canoe Club is a busy, modern brewpub offering house made seasonal brews and bar eats, with one of the best water view patios in the city.
The Moon Under Water Brewpub is a friendly, casual pub where you can view the brewing process and equipment from most seats in the pub.
Cafes / Bakeries
Within in the Dockside complex is Caffe Fantastico Bar-Deli. The café overlooks Victoria’s industrial Inner Harbour and offers finely crafted coffee, an array of cured meats, cheeses and accompaniments, full menu, and an eclectic selection of craft ciders, sours, ales, and wines.
Starbucks fans need to no farther than Westside Village, just across the road from Dockside Green. This Seattle based coffee house chain is known for its signature roasts, light bites, and WiFi availability.
While you are in downtown Victoria, stop by one Discovery Coffee’s 3 locations. They are known for roasting their coffee and espresso beans in-house, awarding the freshest cup of joe around.
Entertainment / Attractions
The Victoria Causeway is beautiful year round, but comes alive in the summer with musicians, food vendors, buskers, and local artisans. From the Causeway, you can also access the provincial legislature, the famous Empress Hotel, and the Royal BC Museum.
The Victoria Harbour Ferry & Water Taxi offers great views of Victoria and the Inner Harbour from a whole new perspective. Active year-round, but especially in spring and summer, you can see our harbour bustling with little water taxis that travel to many points along our waterway. The hop-on/hop-off service has a stop in Vic West near Spinnakers Brewpub, and takes you on a scenic journey through the Inner Harbour, past China Town, along the Selkirk Landing, and to Ogden Point, with many more stops in between!
The McPherson Playhouse, located on the corner of Government Street and Pandora Avenue, has been entertaining Victoria since it opened its doors in 1914. A variety of professional, community, and amateur events are presented at “The Mac” year round. For tickets and events, check here.
The Galloping Goose is Victoria’s best cycling trail that runs right alongside the Dockside Green development. The Galloping Goose offers 67 km of picturesque trails that span from Victoria to Metchosin. From asphalt to rainforest to canyon... the “Goose” knows every landscape on Southern Vancouver Island.
Cycling is a recreation that can be enjoyed year round in Victoria. Don’t have your own bike? Trek Bicycle Store has your cycling needs covered, and is located just behind Dockside Green on Harbour Road! Check out these designated bike routes to help you commute quickly and safely through the city.
Shopping / Retail
Westside Village is an outdoor retail community anchored by Save-On Foods, while the trendy shops of Lo-Jo lie just a short walk over the Johnson Street Bridge. The Bay Centre is a four storey shopping mall in the heart of downtown, while Uptown Shopping Centre is also close by, either by bicycle on the Galloping Goose regional trail, or by car and by bus.
